The side of the roof structure is made up of many pieces of ash hardwood. These curved pieces were referred to as "hockey sticks". Each one had to be custom fit into the header and the upper window frame. They needed to be level and lined up with the metal roof supports. All were dry fitted before final assembly.
This is a collection of photos and discriptions showing the reconstruction of Streetcar 696 in Ottawa Canada. This project has been going on for a couple of decades and will most likely continue well into the future. It is hoped that 696 will one day be mobile again as a tourist attraction in our nation's capital.
